BEE-FRIENDLY HONEY

From the day the first unbranded pot of Hot Honey left the hatch of the food truck in 2014, our passion for sustainability and ethical farming is as strong as our love for bringing exciting new flavours to your table.

Every drop of WilderBee Hot Honey embodies the deep respect we have for the planet and the bees that help to make it what it is.

SUSTAINABLE BEE KEEPING

WilderBee Hot Honey is made with honey from apiaries where ethical beekeeping practices are not just followed but celebrated. The bees lead a life situated in organic wildflower meadows, using zero pesticides and with the most minimal human intervention possible.

Practices followed in larger commercial bee farms such as wing clipping and artificial insemination are strictly avoided, and our hives are always left with abundant honey reserves to see the bees through the winter months in the most natural way.

SUPPORTING COOPERATIVE BEE KEEPERS

Our apiary not only follows natural bee keeping practices, but also supports cooperative beekeepers around the globe, aiding them in securing organic certification and upholding ethical standards. This collaboration provides them with a fair and viable route to market through us, and reinforces the shared ambition to transform the way we care for bees on a global scale. Together, we are taking crucial steps towards safeguarding bees and elevating their care.

CHILLIES ROOTED IN PURPOSE

Our chillies are proudly grown in Rwanda, fostering community prosperity and environmental sustainability. Using approved seeds sourced from trusted British suppliers, they guarantee authenticity and quality control.

All farming is supervised by an experienced agronomist to ensure optimal growth and production. Committed to fair wages, they rise above the minimal pay standards in Rwanda, fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment.

Further enriching their community involvement, our grower provides free education for employees' children and engages staff with the Peacebuilding Education program in Rwanda.

Demonstrating dedication to the environment, our growers cultivate large plots of agave plants for their carbon sequestration properties, expanded further in 2024 by planting avocado trees. This commitment to carbon sequestration is a significant part of the strategy to counterbalance our carbon output and contribute positively to the planet.

OUR PROMISE

Our promise is straightforward but meaningful: to produce the sweet heat of WilderBee Hot Honey without compromising our dedication to sustainability and the ethical treatment of the people, planet and bees that help make our delicious products.

Every aspect of our operations, from beekeeping practices, fair wages, community support, carbon offsetting through to our fully recyclable packaging, is geared towards maintaining the delicate balance of nature, promoting the well-being of bees, while respecting people and planet.
