Modern Slavery Statement:
Here at The WilderKitchen we are dedicated to upholding ethical standards while preventing modern slavery in all aspects of our business operations and supply chain. This modern slavery statement outlines our commitment to combating these issues.
Supply Chain Information:
Our supply chain involves multiple countries, including the UK, Europe, and Rwanda. We maintain close relationships with our suppliers to ensure transparency and ethical practices throughout our supply chain.
Our honey is sourced from apiaries where ethical beekeeping practices are celebrated. Our apiary not only follows natural beekeeping practices, but also supports cooperative beekeepers around the globe, aiding them in reaching organic standards and upholding ethical practices. This collaboration provides them with a fair and viable route to market through our supply.
Our chillies are grown in Rwanda by a producer committed to fostering community prosperity and environmental sustainability. Using approved seeds sourced from trusted British suppliers, to guarantee authenticity and quality control. All farming is supervised by an experienced agronomist to ensure optimal growth and production.
Committed to fair wages, our producer rises well above the minimal pay standards in Rwanda, fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment.
Further enriching their community involvement, they also offer free education for employees' children and engage staff with the Peacebuilding Education program in Rwanda.
Risk Assessment:
Through close relationships with our suppliers, we closely monitor our supply chain to identify potential risks of modern slavery. One of the key risks we focus on closely is the underpayment of farmers and producers within our supply chain.
Due Diligence:
To mitigate the risk of modern slavery in our supply chain, we insist that our suppliers undertake regular due diligence processes and provide updates. Both our honey suppliers and chilli farms undergo inspections every six months to ensure they meet ethical standards for both workers and the environment.
These inspections include verifying sustainable practices and ensuring that above-fair wages are paid to workers.
Conclusion:
The WilderKitchen Limited is committed to combating modern slavery in our supply chain. We will continue to prioritise transparency, ethical sourcing, and accountability to ensure that our products are produced under acceptable and fair conditions.
We recognise that eradicating modern slavery requires ongoing diligence and collaboration, and we remain dedicated to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct.
